Parenting Outside The Lines
I started this site to explore a subject near and dear to my heart, and one I am in the process of producing into a book. The book looks at how parents all over the globe raise their children with disabilities.
It includes short stories from parents in all different countries who are raising a child with a disability.
All the issues we all face in our day to day lives, with children who are special, is something we all have in common.
How to handle the sibling issues, how to manage at school, how to teach self esteem and self advocacy to our kids, how we deal with grandparents and relatives.
Stories from diagnosis to real life, the ins and outs, the tears and triumphs, that make our families work.
How Do Other Parents Do This?
I have spent many days watching other parents and wondering “how do they do this?” How do they get through the day, how do they cope emotionally and physically with this? I truly want to know.
I don’t need to know the latest therapies or the latest medical treatments, but I do need to know how to make it through the day. And I truly believe that we have much more in common than we do differences.
As parents we are always looking for someone
who understands our struggles,
who shares our laughs,
and who can lead us to a path we have not found.
