I voted today

November 4, 2014 By admin Leave a Comment

I voted today, like many others.  I could have voted early or could have voted by mail.  But I don’t like to do that.  I like to vote.  I like to go there and stand in the booth and put my ticket into the machine and vote.  In past years I always waited for one of my kids to get out of school so they could come with me and see me vote.  I thought it was a postive thing for them to see me do.  Today I voted alone.  And it was still great.

I love to vote and to feel as if I matter and my opinion and issues matter.
My only problem was I almost changed my vote an hour before.  I was listening to the radio and being swayed by listening to the actual politicians speaking about their platforms.  Ahhhh!  How is this happening at the final hour?

I read the ballot and I thought long and hard and realized I was torn by my love for my husband.  My husband is a business owner and employees  almost 200 people.  So do I vote to raise minimum wage?  Or do I vote with the democrats who have state medicaid and my daughter’s needs at their core?  Sometimes, often, these issues seem to lie on opposing sides.

My husband’s business concerns and needs, or my little girls special needs issues and rights?  Where do I vote?  Who do I go with?   Somewhat lost, I still voted.
